Local Wasp Removal in Rathdrum, ID
Rathdrum, Idaho, is a great town with tons of history and scenic charm nestled in the Panhandle of Idaho. One of its most notable landmarks is the Rathdrum Mountain, which offers hiking and panoramic views of the surrounding valleys. History Folks will enjoy the Rathdrum Historical Museum, which showcases the town’s origins and its role in the mining and railroad industries. Another interesting spot is the Old Town District, where you can stroll through a handful of vintage buildings that reflect the area’s early pioneer days. However, during the summer you could also stroll right through a bunch of wasps or hornets!
Here are some of the local stinging insects that Spud Pest Control can take care of:
Yellowjackets are ½ – 1 inch long, with yellow and black stripes. They’re aggressive, often found near food, trash, or outdoor activities, and can sting multiple times. They build nests in the ground or walls, especially near humans.
Paper Wasps are ½ – ¾ inch long with a slender body and reddish-brown or black color. They’re less aggressive than yellowjackets but will sting if threatened. They build umbrella-shaped papery nests under eaves or tree branches and are helpful in controlling other insects.
Mud Daubers are small, ¾ – 1 inch long, with black or metallic blue bodies. They’re solitary, non-aggressive, and build mud nests on buildings or in sheds. They hunt spiders, paralyzing them for their larvae.
Honey Bees are about ⅝ inch long with golden-brown fuzzy bodies. They live in large colonies and play a key role in pollination. They build hives in trees or structures and sting only to defend their hive.
African Bees look like honey bees but are more aggressive and often swarm. They’re found in warmer areas and can cause multiple stings when disturbed, though their sting is no worse than a honey bee’s.
Carpenter Bees are ¾ – 1 inch long with a shiny, hairless black abdomen. They’re solitary and bore holes in wood to create nests, which can cause damage over time. They rarely sting unless provoked.
Hornets are large, 1 – 1.5 inches, with dark bodies and a powerful sting. They’re more aggressive than yellowjackets and build large, papery nests in trees or under eaves, often becoming active in late summer and fall.
